Chair of the MCR Sub-Committee
Ruth is a Professor of Social Epidemiology at the University of Glasgow. Her main research interests are inequalities in mortality and contextual and social influences on health over the lifecourse. Her research evaluates the impact of social policies on maternal and child health, using natural experimental evaluations. She has methodological interests in improving the use of routine data to analyse health inequalities, methods for evaluating complex interventions and natural experiments and the development and application of multilevel modelling methods.
