Cathy Brenan

I am an Associate Professor in Psychological and Social Medicine at the University of Leeds. My primary research interests are in Public Mental Health, in particular focusing on self-harm and suicide. I have a strand of work that is focused on service improvement for those who self-harm, including the development of interventions in this area. Another strand explores the complex relationship between self-harm content on social media and mental health outcomes. I lead a module on the undergraduate medical curriculum at Leeds that introduces students to the key principles of population health.
