Join the ECR subcommittee in 2022

The Society for Social Medicine & Population Health Early Career Researcher subcommittee is recruiting new officers for 2022!

We need:

One Chair or two Co-Chairs. This role involves organising and chairing regular meetings, representing ECRs at wider SSM committee meetings, and setting the direction of the subcommittee for 2022, with the help and support of existing members. This is a one-year role, following which you can take up an alternative role on the subcommittee for two further years. Please state in your application whether you would prefer to be a Chair or Co-Chair.
One Chair Elect. This role involves assisting and learning from the Chair or Co-Chairs via shadowing at wider SSM committee meetings and helping out on the subcommittee in general. The Chair Elect will typically assume the role of Chair in 2023, and can remain on the subcommittee in an alternative role for a further year.
Two Local Officers from the University of Exeter. This role involves leading the organisation of the SSM pre-conference event. You will have support from Ellen and Mairead who have held this role previously.
One Mentoring Officer. This role involves working with and improving SSM’s Mentoring Scheme, representing the voice of ECRs on the wider committee’s mentoring group.

The ECR Subcommittee represents the views of ECRs on the main SSM committee, organises tailored events for ECRs, maintains a social media presence, communicates with members via e-alerts with job listings and other resources, and contributes to the Society’s newsletter and blog. We also help co-ordinate the Society’s mentoring scheme. The committee acts on a rolling basis where each member serves a term of three years and new spaces are made vacant by departing members. It’s a great opportunity to network with peers and senior academics, and to get involved in discussions about the future of research in this field.

Elections will be held electronically in a one-week period following the closing date. Only your name and <75 word description will appear on the ballot.
