Tell us a little bit about yourself
I am psychologist and applied statistician. I have worked both public and private sector doing statistical consulting in social and health sciences. I like to learn and teach applied statistics, particularly learn new statistical software.
What are you working on at the moment?
I am part of the Convalesce team, and I work on the topics of SARS-COV-2 (COVID) associated with Mental Health, and Neurodegenerative diseases. I also, support in other projects, such as Autoimmune diseases.
Moreover, I am working on a project of Cardiovascular (CVD) Mortality in England and Wales to understand the changes in mortality trends in different CVD diseases.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about learning about different health-related topics, specially the use of medical(clinical)-codes, and learning about new methodologies and statistical techniques.
My current position allows me to work with clinical codes, understand the new and deprecated codes, and how to use them on different research projects. The latter due to the opportunity to work with clinicians from different areas.
How did you find last year’s ASM in Exeter?
After the last SSM virtual conference, I enjoyed the opportunity to be present during the conference, particularly the opportunity to meet with friends and colleagues, and learn about their new projects. I also enjoyed the opportunity to learn about the different research topics made around the UK and other countries. I think the SSM conference is a great opportunity to be in touch with friends, as well as to networking and generate new research ideas.
This is a special edition of our blog series that celebrates SSM members and their work. Over the next few months we will be featuring the authors of top-scoring abstracts from 2022’s ASM. To find out more visit socsocmed.org.uk/blog or email ecr.ssm@gmail.com.
