How many of us are taking prescribed medicines?

Our very own Dr Jenny Mindell of UCL was on Radio 4 yesterday talking about how many people take prescription drugs in the UK, based on the recent publication of Health Survey for England.

The work published yesterday indicates that half (50%) of women and just under half (43%) of men reported taking at least one prescribed medicine in the past week. Roughly a quarter (22% of men and 24% of women) reported taking at least three prescribed medicines in the past week.

The press release is here and the interview is here. Dr Mindell starts at 14:50 in.
