The latest edition of the SSM Newsletter (Volume 5, Issue 3) is now available.This edition launches the first in a series of profiles of public health activity across the UK and Ireland. The series kicks off in the West Midlands highlighting the activities of the Coventry Public Health team, CLAHRC West Midlands (encompassing Universities of Birmingham and Warwick) and Warwickshire Public Health team. In anticipation of the upcoming Annual Scientific Meeting in Oxford, we have a preview of all of the workshops that will be on offer. Also in this edition, Simon Capewell asks if the Society for Social Medicine stay silent on “Scientific Controversies” and Diana Kuh takes part in our ‘meeting the expert’ interview.
